SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 17, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- GSI Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:GSIT) today announced immediate availability of the industry's first family of commercial, ultra-low error rate SRAMs--GSI's ECCRAMs^TM. The new 72Mbit devices transparently encode and store error correction codes with every write and then read, decode and, if necessary, correct bit errors using a fast ECC algorithm. With no speed penalty, the device automatically corrects bit flips due to radiation particle strikes. Accelerated testing in high-energy particle beam tests shows that the SRAMs can be expected to demonstrate a vanishingly small Soft Error Rate (SER) of less than 0.002 FITs/Mb--a 5-order-of-magnitude improvement over comparable technologies with no on-chip ECC.

ECCRAMs are members of GSI's 2^nd and 3^rd generation SigmaQuad(TM) and SigmaDDR(TM) SRAM families. They are available in a variety of packages and performance points, and are qualified for immediate volume production.
